Petites Center for the Creative Arts is a seasonal residential art school in the lovely fishing village of Petites, Newfoundland. It is intended as a place where art instructors and artists from around the world will come together with artists from Newfoundland to share skills, ideas and draw inspiration from the remote beauty of Petites. Skills taught in a typical two-week workshop will include things like ceramics, quilting, painting, metalworking, woodworking and others as interest dictate. Artists will stay in Petites for the duration of the workshop with high quality food and housing provided. The focus for non-natives will be to escape to a place where they can focus solely on their art and improving their skills. For natives, there will be an explicit goal of raising the level of craftsmanship of local artisans and hopefully improving their chances of making a living from their craft.
